Accidents happen...

...but sometimes the results are pretty cool.

This is my friend Maria, and this was taken during a photoshoot I did of her and her lovely sisters a couple weeks ago [more of those photos will be appearing soon]. This was an accidental snap of the camera before the shot was properly composed or focused....but I like the way it turned out. And as I've been putting finishing touches on these photos, this one has continually brought me joy.

So, I thought I'd take a brief side step from the series of recap blogs to share what's made me smile today.

That's all. Feel free to carry on with the rest of your Wednesday, now... :)

2009: A Recap in Senior Portraits

It's SO much fun to celebrate with a senior who's nearing the completion of their highschool career. They're young, vibrant, and so full of anticipation for what life will bring in the future. I love getting the chance to spend an afternoon with them, talking, laughing, hanging out, and snapping some unique and memorable portraits. I love the challenge of capturing their personality in a way that's specific to them, giving them an end result that doesn't look like anyone else's.

So, here are some highlights of two super fun senior shoots from 2009.

Tara - September 14th, 2009 [view full album here]

Arika - August 29th, 2009 [view full album here]

If you're still in need of 2010 senior portraits, or in the class of 2011 and planning ahead, shoot me an email! I'd love to hang out with you and help you document your incredible accomplishment!

Coming up next, highlights of Engagements. Stay tuned & check back often!

2009: A Recap in Weddings

2009 was a fun and exciting year for me and my business, as I had the opportunity to shoot some gorgeous weddings in some fun locations around the state and country from Indianapolis, IN to Richmond, VA to Nashville, TN. It was the first full year in business for Marvelous Things Photography and I was so blessed and excited by the many experiences that came my way, and the fun, incredible people I got to meet and work with. The couples that I had the privilege to meet were such a joy to be with, and I couldn't have been more thrilled to get the chance to document their love story through their Big Day. Here are just a few of my favorite images from a couple of the weddings I did.

Tyler & Alissa - September 12th, 2009 [see more here]

Dan & Karyn - October 3rd, 2009 [see more here]

Mark & Amy - August 15th, 2009 [see more here]

Feel free to check out the Facebook albums linked to above to see more from each wedding!

And stay tuned for recaps of 2009 Senior, Engagement, and Children & Family Portraits!

Welcome!

At long last, and with the help and insistence of my sister Aimee I have finally and officially decided to get into the whole blogging thing. It seems to be the "thing to do" for all photographers, and since I enjoy looking at other's blogs so much, I thought perhaps someone might enjoy looking at mine now and then.

So, the beginning of a new year is a perfect time to begin something, well, new!

A summary of photos from 2009 will follow soon, as well as information about booking your own shoots for 2010!
