Personal | Marriage, A Move, & A Re-ignited Blog

So.

It's possible that I might be the world's worst blogger, as of now. Or maybe, I'm one of the world's most common bloggers - similar to many of you. One who knows a blog is a great idea, especially when it comes to the photography business, but who doesn't necessarily have the shiny blog they WANT, yet, so decides to put it off until that beautiful day arrives....

That was my reason, and it seemed so logical. Except that I've missed out on being able to write about and document SO many wonderful photoshoots and particularly meaningful moments in my life over these past many months because of the blogging neglect. And with the New Year coming up, and everyone beginning talk of their resolutions, I decided that if this is something I want to get better at starting January 1st, why wouldn't I just start now?

So, I am. Or, at least attempting. And what better way than with a quick rundown of my life in the months that are lacking on here?

June
July
August
  • Celebrated 1 year with my love!
  • Planned our wedding some more
  • Shot the wedding of a dear friend, the first without a 2nd shooter or assistant - and it went smashingly!
September
  • Shot another wedding for dear friends on my sister's birthday
  • More wedding planning
  • Went to Ireland! with Aimee as our last sister hurray before I got married
October
  • Did my first double-wedding weekend with the help of my amazing partner-in-crime
  • Shot two more weddings the following two weekends (the one in Richmond being my first time to finally get to work with this fabulous curly girl)
  • Went to my first ever Colts game!
  • Survived the busiest, craziest month of my life
  • Began to get very ill at the end, though...
November
  • Stayed very ill until the day before my wedding
  • Barely had any energy, but felt amazing ON my wedding day (praise the Lord!)
  • Married my best friend on November 6th
  • Went to Jamaica for a week!
  • Moved to Midlothian, VA
  • Went to Indiana to be with my family for Thanksgiving
  • Where my husband broke my brother's finger (thanks, football)
  • Finally getting really settled into my new home (and learning how excited one can get over curtains, pots & pans, place mats or towels)
December
  • Missing snow, but enjoying life in Virgina and as a wife
  • Loving being near dear friends of all kinds
  • So happy to be inundated with Christmas music and holiday cheer
  • Excited about all of the things I can do to make my business successful in a new state
And THAT has pretty much been my life. Very eventful, very amazing, remarkably blessed. I'm a lucky girl.

Here's to love: Kurt & Amy

I headed out to St. Joseph's college to meet up with Kurt & Amy on Saturday, May 2nd, and had a blast hanging out with these two fresh college graduates - celebrating not only their academic success, but, of course, their engagement and upcoming wedding. It was such fun to get to spend a little bit of time with them, and I definitely felt spoiled as a photographer because they were SO easy to shoot. Cannot wait to document their Big Day later this year, on October 9th!

Rebekah J. Murray - Feel the Love

It's not everyday that you get asked to do portraits for a fellow photographer - and an amazing, brilliant, creative one, at that. But when you do, it's safe to say that it feels like a huuuge honor. Especially when that same amazing, brilliant, creative photographer is an incredible and dear friend. The combination of such makes for endless possibilities of fun and creativity....and lots of photos-in-the-making.

Back in April I got to spend a few hours with Rebekah Murray during one of my visits to Virginia, and as is always the case when we spend time together, an adventure was in the making. From researching the perfect trees to make our polaroid dreams come true, to discovering that paint adheres to skin more than one would think, this portrait shoot was an absolute blast from start to finish. Becka's brilliance and vision for this shoot was so fun to work with and go off of, and I'm so excited with the results.

On top of that....who doesn't just love a positively gorgeous subject to work with? Inside and out alike, Becka is beautiful, fun-loving and limitless in her abilities and ideas. I'm truly inspired by her as both a friend and fellow photographer. And I hope you all enjoy the results of our work together as much as we do. :)

Easter Sunday

I love when I get time with my whole family, especially now that the brother is off at school & I'm often traveling & the sister is busy with work. Our schedules don't all mesh together like they used to, so I appreciate when that still happens. A day like Easter, of course, is helpful for just that.

Asher wanted to get some pictures together because it's been a long time since we've done any sibling shots - goofy or serious. The wind wasn't particularly cooperative or helpful for the hair, but there's much character contained in these photos and that's what makes them fun.

I enjoyed a day of quality time with my family and some friends, and a time to reflect on how grateful I am to be loved, forgiven and redeemed by a Savior who's very much alive. Because of that I can live life - all the ups and downs of it, alike - with peace and hope. And that makes it very much a life worth living. So grateful for that. So humbled.

Hope you all had an equally peaceful, happy and fun-filled Easter!

It's been a while!

I promise I've only neglected posting because, well, life has gotten very busy with photoshoots, pictures to edit, trips to be taken, etc.

However, I wanted to share a sneak peek of Steve & Miriam's lovely wedding [which I'm currently working on]...

It was SUCH a beautiful day, in spite of the rain that kept us inside, and there will be more photos to come soon!
